EMC Ionix Plug-In
Visibility into your Optical and Storage Area Networks for EMC Ionix
The EMC Ionix Optical Network Plug-In provides Event Correlation and Analysis (ECA) and service-assurance tools to discover the optical network, then mediate and correlate alerts, outages, root-cause analysis (RCA) for EMC Ionix.
The Ionix Plug-In can mediate diverse networks including optical, storage and Ethernet and can be fully integrated into the Ionix Service Assurance Manager. The application has been designed to analyze the interoperability of mission-critical core optical networks with storage and resource management systems. This can help to extend current management systems with interoperability alarm correlation and topology information. Superna leverages its competency with storage systems and advanced storage interoperability certification service practice to build an extensive base of devices integrated into the Ionix Plug-In.

A critical differentiator with the Ionix Plug-In is the correlation engine that has been designed to assess alarm and event conditions in the optical network and provide improved root cause analysis functions. The correlation engine contains multiple decision trees that provide a more intelligent assessment of the event condition.
The Ionix Plug-In is designed for organizations that have deployed optical networks and require enhanced visibility into the optical network. Superna provides the application directly and works with various network equipment providers to make it available for their telecom and enterprise customers.
Deriving Network Performance Data with Historical Reporting
The Ionix Plug-In provides several analytics functions. It collects network performance and configuration data on a scheduled interval from optical or data network elements, and stores the results in a relational database for analysis queries.
- Data is stored against devices, and network paths to match actual traffic patterns.
- Performance data is graphed with a feature to compare points in time and analyze multiple statistics visually to identify performance issues.
- Analysts can roll forward and backwards in graphs by hour, day, week, or month to identify trends.
- Pre-defined correlation queries and root-cause reports analyze key statistics that surround network degradation or failures, providing direction for improved performance and network planning.
- Configuration logging and reporting can be accessed to look at historical configuration details.
- Geospatial analysis functions are integrated to allow for extended query capabilities.
